Ukrainian stocks fell sharply on Wednesday (May 30), giving back their gains from the previous session, as worries about the Spanish banking system shook global investor confidence. Yields on the country’s sovereign bonds approached 7% after the ECB said it had not been consulted on the bailout for Bankia, the 4th largest bank in Spain, putting its recapitalization in doubt. The UX index lost 3.2%, ending at 1049 points.
